Why are we not surprised that the same Bob Donegan and Ivar’s restaurant chain has been involved in other chicanery aimed at fooling the public (See Times 11/11/09 Article - Underwater Signs a hoax). Details of this incident indicate that fraudulent checks and other records were created at Donegan’s behest to support the claim that a genuine historic artifact had been found. This is the same person and company that has been running a hoax of another kind about the deep bored tunnel project.

Announcements: SCAT No Tunnel Response Teams Formed On December 30th SCAT members aligned and formed a 10 member response team to confront more directly the effort by the City of Seattle and WSDOT to steamroller through the tunnel project by challenging the many fundamental assertions both have made to sell the project to both the public and the State Legislature, and by providing counter information which will demonstrate that the tunnel is little more than a insider led boondoggle project that will benefit private and officials’ interests more than it will ever benefit the public.
Each team group will be responsible for analyzing and providing a variety of documents that will be used in public, administrative and legal challenges to the tunnel project, as well as provide an ongoing source of expertise and information about the area they work with.
Tunnel project areas that teams are handling include tunnel permitting, environmental review and compliance, tolling, traffic impacts of the tunnel, tunnel alternatives, and project costs. In addition one team is taking on organizing SCAT membership, including initiating and maintaining a database that will be used for SCAT outreach and information efforts.
Ethics Complaint Filed Against Governor and Others
Ethic complaints against the Governor and 12 other officials and employees of the State of Washington were filed today with the state Executive Ethics Board. The complaints are related to the efforts by the governor’s office and the Department of Transportation to influence the outcome of the 2009 elections for Mayor of the City of Seattle.
